Michael is a client focused lawyer who cares deeply about his work. He is diligent and communicates well. I had the great privilege of using Mike Powell as a mediator in a large complicated intellectual property matter. Mike was able to dig in and quickly grasp the legal issues involved. Michael took over a case from a departing colleague at Baker’s. He was quick to jump in and take control of a nasty situation. Despite the potential of winning the case against us he was quick to summarize the costs and time of doing so. Looking at costs in the hundreds of thousands is a sobbering thought. In effect even if we had won we would loose because we may not have be awarded costs As a result of his forthright nature we decided to settle and minimize costs and time and move forward on building business. Definately the right choice. Sometimes proving one is right or innocent is not necessarly the best choice. Deferring to agree to disagree is the better business decision. Mike got us there.
